Job Shadowing

I know I haven't been updating this much, but I have some good news. Recently I was appointed Hayley Hamlin's assistant. This means I get to follow her around on her sessions, learn some tips and tricks, as well as editing. It also means I get to hold props up, carry camera backs, and the like. Either way, I'm really excited.

For those of you who don't know Hayley Hamlin, she is a professional photographer here in Mid Michigan. Here website is www.hayleyhamlin.com  so feel free to check out her amazing work.

I'm very thankful Hayley Hamlin chose me to be her assistant, and can't wait for next summer when the real fun begins.

Mr. Art Man

Once again, this post stars the one and only Corby Blem from Pa Blem's House of Trite. And once again, the quality is bad, so forgive me.

This was taken with my DSLR during the same shoot as the one in the previous post. I love the lighting in this, and the way the black and white turned out. And of course, Jesus in the back ground pretty much makes the picture.

Corby's studio is actually located in his basement, and it's full of anything and everything. Random nick nacks and odds and ends, and lots and lots of paint. Lots.
I actually did a drawing of this in art class with white pencil/pastel on black paper. This isn't a picture of the finished product, but I did finish it. Pretty dandy, if I say so myself.

That's all for now. Maybe I'll post something more tonight. We just got a fresh rain, and it isn't too windy or cold to go out and get a few shots.

It's May Already

I realize it's been a while since my last post. Almost a month. But good news - I shall be posting more.

For English, in order to get an A in the class, we are required to do two extra projects beyond what is originally assigned. I chose a journal, but instead of writing it down with a paper and pen, I chose to do a blog, which you can find here. I also decided to do a photography blog (which you are currently looking at) because it's easier to post pictures than to print all of them. So this begins my first post for English.

I have to admit, this is a photo I took a while ago, but I keep coming back to it. For some reason, it isn't uploading well, but pretend it isn't so out of focus. I had a photo shot with a good friend and great artist, Corby Blem (who you can find here). If you remember, I posted pictures from a photo shoot last summer of him at his booth at the Mt. Pleasant Sidewalk Days. This time, I went to his studio to catch him in action; get the inside scoop.

His main media is paint and brushes, and he has a lot of both. This is one of my favorite photos from the shoot, as I've said. The contrast of colors and textures, and how it shows the artist's work. I love it, to say the least.

Again, sorry for the crappy upload, and the delay in uploads in general. Hopefully I'll have some new shots soon.

Thanks for stopping in!

Art Class

I'm taking a photography class at school, which may or may not be helpful, we'll see. But we do take tons of pictures, so hopefully this blog will be a little more lively. This is some of my lastest work. All of them were taken in the art room.
